The QA/QC Engineer – Mechanical & Welding (Site) is responsible for ensuring that site mechanical, fabrication, installation, and welding activities comply with approved procedures, project specifications, codes, and client quality requirements. The role covers inspection, welding control, material traceability, testing, non-conformance follow-up, quality records, and turnover documentation to support safe, compliant, and right-first-time execution.
Primary office: KES, Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Relocation may be required to project sites within the Middle East. Position requires 70–80% time on project sites.
What You Will Do
- Implement approved quality plans, ITPs, method statements, and procedures for mechanical and welding site activities.
- Inspect and witness incoming materials, fit-up, alignment, welding, erection, installation, pressure testing, reinstatement, and mechanical completion activities.
- Verify materials, components, consumables, MTCs, traceability, and preservation requirements.
- Review welding documentation including WPS, PQR, welder qualifications, weld maps, repair logs, and consumable records.
- Ensure welding is performed by qualified welders using approved procedures and acceptance criteria.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of piping, equipment, supports, and welded joints.
- Coordinate and witness NDT activities including RT, UT, MT, and PT, and review reports for compliance.
- Maintain inspection reports, punch lists, NCRs, corrective action records, and turnover dossiers.
- Monitor hydrotest, leak test, flushing, box-up, reinstatement, and mechanical completion readiness.
- Identify non-conforming work and follow corrective and preventive actions through closure.
- Coordinate inspections and resolve quality issues with clients, third parties, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Support audits, quality awareness, and continuous improvement to reduce rework.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- CSWIP 3.1/3.2 or AWS-CWI certifications or equivalent quality/welding inspection certifications.
- QA/QC experience in mechanical, piping, equipment installation, and welding inspection at industrial or Oil & Gas sites.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, AWS, ISO, and client/project specifications for mechanical and welding works.
- Experience with ITPs, quality plans, WPS/PQR, welder qualifications, method statements, checklists, and turnover dossiers.
- Hands-on experience in visual/dimensional inspection, material verification, weld inspection, NDT coordination, pressure testing, and mechanical completion.
- Understanding of traceability, MTC review, consumable control, weld repair monitoring, calibration, and quality records.
- Ability to read isometrics, GA drawings, P&IDs, fabrication drawings, weld maps, and specifications.
- Strong communication, reporting, and coordination skills with site teams, subcontractors, clients, and third parties.
- Willingness to work extensively at site, travel as required within Middle East, and support shutdowns, turnarounds, and fast-track construction activities.
