- Work closely with Japan and Korea Design Engineering, Tool Engineering, and Quality teams to drive design and process improvements that enhance product quality and throughput.
- Partner with Sourcing and Purchasing teams on external plating vendor selection and capability assessments.
- Plan, track, and provide timely updates on plating project status and activities while liaising with internal project teams.
- Apply the Decision-Making Framework to determine whether plating should be completed in-house or externally sourced for new or transferred product requests by validating plant capacity and capability.
- Perform design reviews for new plating machines when in-house plating capability is required.
- Ensure all improvement activities comply with approved methods, procedures, and quality standards.
- Develop project resource and timeline plans and lead projects to successful completion.
- Work closely with suppliers to sustain plating production processes and resolve technical issues.
- Engage suppliers during the development stage and partner with R&D and SQE teams to drive continuous improvements.
- Lead electroplating tooling design improvements to support precious metal cost savings.
- Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and fabricators on design-for-manufacturing activities related to tooling design.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of tooling trial runs for RTP implementation.
- Lead plating improvement projects to enhance quality, productivity, and efficiency through Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, or JDI methodologies.
- Drive profitability improvement initiatives such as speed enhancement, gold usage reduction, chemical cost savings, and other cost optimisation activities.
- Support quality improvement initiatives by reducing chronic QAP issues such as peel-off, slant pin, and other plating-related defects.
- Resolve quality issues systematically by partnering with internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement approved improvements and modifications to electrical, mechanical, and chemical processes, tooling, components, and equipment.
- Continuously review the performance of plating materials, products, and processes, taking appropriate actions to improve quality, productivity, and overall manufacturing performance.
- Provide plating technical guidance and mentoring to new team members.
- Develop plating training materials and training programmes for new employees.
