In this role, you will develop and manage Auto Assembly quality for Molex Malaysia, working independently to improve and optimize internal processes and external subcontractor quality performance. You will support customer quality, manufacturing quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen product quality, process performance, and customer satisfaction.
Our Team
You will be part of the Consumer & Commercial Solution / QA organization in Malaysia, reporting to the Principal Engineer and supporting Auto Assembly MQA. This role partners closely with all levels in the plant, other Molex entities, and external counterparts to resolve quality issues and drive sustainable improvements across internal manufacturing and subcontractor operations.
What You Will Do
Customer Quality Engineering
Analyze product failures and define corrective and preventive actions in response to customer complaints.
Communicate with customers in a timely manner regarding data summaries, status updates, and corrective action reports.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and drive preventive actions.
Participate in product quality planning and control activities based on customer specifications and requirements arising from quality issues.
Inform the Quality Management team of customer feedback, concerns, and expectations regarding product quality.
Prepare and maintain all quality reports, records, and procedures required by customers and internal quality systems.
Train and guide quality personnel in problem-solving methodologies to effectively resolve customer quality issues.
Prepare and submit 8D reports to customers, including root cause analysis and corrective actions, within the required timeline.
Monitor and implement corrective actions identified in 8D reports to ensure timely completion, effectiveness, and sustained implementation.
Auto Assembly MQA Engineering
Streamline part measurement activities by eliminating stable dimensions and shifting the focus from dimensional inspection to part application verification through review of all inspection standards.
Review and develop effective inspection gates within the Auto Assembly process to enhance detection capability and prevent defect escape.
Implement and maintain in-process quality control and inspection plans to ensure product conformity during manufacturing.
Ensure the quality of Auto Assembly products and resolve quality issues encountered during production.
Conduct process and product audits to assess compliance with quality requirements and process effectiveness.
Analyze internal COPQ and external QN data to identify improvement opportunities.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce external and internal QN.
Drive quality improvement projects to reduce QAP occurrences and participate in stop-sorting activities.
Quality and Productivity Improvement
Drive subcontractor quality improvement to enhance product quality and process performance.
Drive CTP/CTQ dimensional improvement at subcontractors to reduce Auto Assembly QAP occurrences.
Benchmark and adopt best practices and effective quality controls from subcontractors for implementation within Auto Assembly operations.
Share successful best practices and lessons learned from Auto Assembly with subcontractors to support continuous improvement.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer.
Ability to perform engineering analysis and drive root-cause resolution for processing problems.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to specific timelines.
Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet tools; effective written, one-on-one verbal, and group communication skills; good interpersonal skills to guide less experienced engineers.
Knowledge of statistical tools and SPC, with basic analytical and auditing skills and an understanding of FMEA and control plans.
What Will Put You Ahead
Manufacturing Quality Engineer background.
Minimum 8 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a related field or area.
Mandarin-speaking ability is preferred.
Familiarity with database development, SPC software, and design of experiments (DOE).
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
