Subject Matter Expert (Indirect) – Packaging & MRO

About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Packaging & MRO to strengthen our Indirect Procurement function in Vietnam. In this role, you will lead sourcing activities for packaging materials and MRO categories, drive supplier performance, support new product introduction, and help build a world‑class sourcing team.
You will also coach junior sourcing engineers—especially in localization and PCN activities—while partnering closely with Category Managers across Asia, internal stakeholders, and suppliers.
What You Will Own
1. Sourcing Responsibilities
- Packaging: carton boxes, foam, bubble sheets, high-barrier bags, carrier tape, cover tape, reels, etc.
- MRO: production benches, racks, shelves, chemicals, production supplies, and standard machine parts.
2. People Development
- Coach junior sourcing engineers on sourcing processes and best practices, especially localization and PCN.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Selection & Approval
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and qualification of new suppliers—preferably in Vietnam—ensuring they meet Molex standards and compliance requirements.
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration with Quality, Operations, and Engineering.
- Support sourcing for NPIs by leveraging existing suppliers or identifying new ones.
- Support the implementation of global/regional contracts and decision‑making frameworks (Make vs. Buy, supplier selection).
Pricing & Cost Management
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Logistics, Category Managers, and Sourcing teams to set target costs and evaluate cost‑down alternatives.
- Analyze cost components to identify improvement opportunities.
- Conduct regular price benchmarking and market analysis.
- Utilize strong RFQ, benchmarking, and negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing and terms.
- Negotiate agreements that meet global needs across price, delivery, quality, and service.
Supplier Development & Management
- Build and maintain long‑term, competitive, high‑performance supplier relationships.
- Manage supplier risks, drive mitigation actions, and ensure risk coverage through contracts (T&Cs, Quality Agreements, Supply Agreements).
- Monitor suppliers on technology capability, lead time reduction, inventory optimization, supply assurance, and cost improvements.
- Align and deploy common supply strategies (Incoterms, VMI, CRP, logistics modes) with Category Managers and sourcing teams in other countries.
Coaching & Team Development
- Coach and guide local sourcing engineers to strengthen capability and performance.
- Support the Indirect Sourcing Manager in developing a world‑class Indirect Sourcing team in Vietnam.
Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, environmental and safety regulations, customs, tax, ethics standards, and spending guidelines.
Best Practices
- Promote and implement best practices in supply chain management.
- Share supplier knowledge and sourcing insights with procurement teams across divisions.
Scope
- Packaging & MRO category management in Vietnam.
Qualifications
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Experience Required:
- 5–10 years of procurement, sales, or engineering experience in the high‑tech component industry
- 3–5 years of experience in optical fiber or cable industry
- 3+ years leading teams or cross‑functional projects
Preferred:
- Professional certifications: CPM/CPSM, CIRM, CPIM
Skills & Abilities Required:
- Strong proficiency with Office 365, Coupa, and other enterprise applications
- Business-level Vietnamese and English communication
- Understanding of optical fiber or cable technologies and market trends
- Ability to read and interpret packaging drawings/specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Solid understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
- Proven ability to lead and collaborate across functions
