Molex is rapidly growing in our Opto-E business, responsible for developing 1.6T, 3.2T and beyond. In our Fremont office, we have a dedicated team of engineers. In this role, the Sr Principal Hardware Engineer will drive transceiver design and lead optical modules tuning to achieve optimal performance. Joined by a team of optical, SI/PI designers, this team will work collectively to ensure a high-volume manufacturing.
As the only manufacturer in North America, this person will have an impact on our high-speed optical interconnects and the growth of the company.
This person will spend time on design, component selection and implementation strategy.
What You Will Do
- Lead hardware design for high-speed fiber optic transceiver from definition, design, and testing for production readiness.
- Perform as technical authority for design architecture and provide technical guidance for engineering initiatives
- Lead engineering team in making risk/trade off decision
- Anticipate and resolve problems timely and conduct routine design meeting
- Ensure the success of hardware development in compliance with product life cycle procedure
- Representing engineering team in product development requirements and customers RFI/RFQ response
- Manage the key suppliers to in line with project objectives
- Interface with key customers to address technical questions, issues and support design win.
- Escalate to management for critical risk management and conflict resolutions
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering
- Hardware development experience in Telcom or Datacom industry
- Experience with Fiber optics, transceiver or transport hardware development
- In-depth understanding of transmission lines, power integrity, signal integrity
- Significant impact to transceiver hardware
For this role, we anticipate paying $200,000 - 275,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
