In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of connector terminal product and die tooling development professionals to effectively use stamping simulation software to identify and resolve stamping problems associated with connector products, and to ensure terminal product dimensional and other performance targets are met before releasing product design for tooling.
Job Responsibilities:
· Provide sheet metal stamping expertise to the cross functional product development teams to improve product manufacturability, build high performing progressive stamping dies, and improve stamping production output.
· Responsible for building and setting up sheet metal stamping simulation models of connector products using solid modeling software (CAD) and/or FEA pre-processors.
· Perform full stamping simulations for multiple station progressive dies.
- Verify input and analyze simulated results to provide prompt feedback on terminal design proposals to ensure manufacturability.
- provide recommendations for solving die-tooling and stamping process issues.
- Ability to articulate product and die tooling design issues and propose paths to resolutions verbally and in-writing.
· Work and collaborate with testing labs to define and conduct comprehensive material tests.
· Learn and familiarize Molex terminal PDP, die design, and die debug processes. Work with plant die design and process engineer to collect actual stamping data for conducting correlational studies.
· Document and manage material and correlational study database.
· Develop, document, and maintain simulation best practices and standard procedures.
· Perform other duties as assigned by management.
· Travel is minimal, however required as needed.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
· Strong understanding of metal (copper alloy, stainless steel, etc.) behaviors and its properties.
· Experience with 3D CAD software such as NX, or similar.
· Experience with structural FEA software such as LS-Dyna, Abaqus, Ansys, or similar.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering fields.
· Proficient in spoken and written English.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills:
- Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering fields.
- Hands on experience and sound knowledge of progressive die design and sheet metal stamping process.
· Experience with stamping simulation software such as Simufact, HyperForm, Autoform, or similar.
