What You Will Do
The type and scope of a project will greatly determine the duties of a Welder Fabricator Fitter, but here are some primary Roles you can expect:
- Plan and coordinate labor, materials, tools, and equipment to execute maintenance and project work efficiently while minimizing downtime.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and technical documentation to support equipment installations, upgrades, and rebuilds.
- Fabricate, install, repair, and maintain industrial piping systems, including:
- Process piping
- Steam systems
- Hot water systems
- Refrigeration systems
- Compressed air systems
- HVAC-related piping
- Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical systems throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Install, maintain, and diagnose hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, cylinders, controls, and associated equipment.
- Operate welding and fabrication equipment to perform precision repairs and custom fabrication projects.
- Utilize cranes, hoists, lift trucks, rigging equipment, and other material handling tools to complete installations and maintenance work safely and effectively.
- Partner with engineers, maintenance personnel, contractors, and operations teams to solve problems and improve equipment performance.
- Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety by following all environmental, health, and safety procedures while actively contributing to a strong safety culture.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Journey level experience as a maintenance Pipefitter/Welder in an industrial/manufacturing setting
- Experience with a variety of tools and equipment
- Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
- Knowledge and experience with various welding processes, such as TIG, MIG and ARC
- Experience using heavy machinery, such as forklifts and cranes
What Will Put You Ahead
- Maintenance experience in the pulp and paper manufacturing environment
- 4 years or more of industrial maintenance experience
- Combination of pipefitter/welder industrial/manufacturing experience with completion of a Trade School certificate and/or degree
