Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator (CAT 988 Wheel Loader) to join our Lumber facility in Warrenton, GA!
If you have experience operating large wheel loaders or similar heavy mobile equipment in an industrial environment, this could be a great opportunity to build a long-term career with a stable company. In this role, you'll operate CAT 966 and CAT 988 wheel loaders to safely unload log trucks, manage the log yard, and keep the sawmill supplied with materials that support daily production.
Pay
- Starting at $23.50/hour or higher, depending on your experience and qualifications.

Schedule
Night Shift
- Sunday – Thursday
- 6:00 PM – 4:00 AM
Training and vacation coverage will be completed on day shift as needed.

What You Will Do
- Operate CAT 966 and CAT 988 wheel loaders, along with a mobile high stacker, to unload log trucks, maintain log inventory, and keep the sawmill supplied with logs.
- Safely stack, organize, and rotate logs throughout the log yard to support production.
- Complete pre-shift inspections and monitor equipment performance, including startup, shutdown, and critical alarms.
- Perform routine housekeeping and preventative maintenance on mobile equipment.
- Submit maintenance requests using the electronic work order system when repairs are needed.
- Follow all environmental, safety, and operating procedures.
- Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to resolve issues and keep operations running efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- At least one year of experience safely operating large wheel loaders or similar heavy mobile equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, mining, quarry, forestry, material handling, or distribution environment.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Two or more years of experience operating CAT 966, CAT 988, or comparable large wheel loaders.
- Two or more years of Sawmill/Planer Mill experience
- Experience using computers for recordkeeping or production documentation.
- Experience performing basic preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and creating electronic maintenance work orders.
