Molex is seeking a Thermal Engineer / Senior Thermal Engineer to join the Multiphysics Simulation Group within Global Engineering Services (GES). In this role, you will apply deep thermal and fluid physics expertise to solve complex electronics cooling challenges across AI data centers, high-power interconnect systems, EV applications, medical devices, and industrial technologies. Our Team
The Multiphysics Simulation Group is part of Molex's Predictive Engineering organization within Global Engineering Services (GES). The team serves as the simulation and virtual engineering backbone for Molex globally, enabling data-driven product development through advanced modeling, digital engineering, and virtual qualification. Our engineers collaborate across business units to solve critical thermal, mechanical, and multiphysics challenges that influence product performance, reliability, and innovation.
What You Will Do
- Develop and execute thermal and CFD simulations for advanced electronic products, cooling systems, and high-power applications.
- Drive engineering decisions by translating complex thermal analysis results into actionable design recommendations.
- Partner with global product, testing, and system engineering teams to improve thermal performance and product reliability.
- Validate simulation models through analytical calculations, testing correlation, and engineering judgment.
- Support development of liquid cooling solutions, electronics cooling technologies, and next-generation thermal architectures.
- Contribute to the organization's Virtual Product Qualification (VPQ) strategy by improving predictive simulation capabilities.
- Establish and enhance simulation methodologies, best practices, and engineering standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the growth of technical capabilities within the team.
- Leverage emerging technologies, including digital twins and AI-assisted engineering approaches, to advance predictive engineering initiatives.
- Identify thermal risks early in product development and recommend practical, physics-based solutions.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3-6 years of thermal simulation experience for Engineer level, or 6-10 years for Senior Engineer level.
- Strong understanding of heat transfer fundamentals including conduction, convection, radiation, and conjugate heat transfer.
- Working knowledge of fluid mechanics, turbulence models, and numerical simulation principles.
- Hands-on experience with at least one thermal or CFD software platform such as Ansys Fluent, Icepak, STAR-CCM+, Flotherm, or OpenFOAM.
- Experience performing thermal analysis, simulation validation, correlation studies, and engineering interpretation of results.
- Ability to perform analytical calculations and apply engineering judgment to validate simulation outcomes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional engineering teams.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Master's degree (M.Tech/M.E./MS) in Thermal, Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with electronics cooling, thermal characterization, heat sinks, thermal interface materials, and junction temperature prediction.
- Knowledge of liquid cooling systems including cold plates, manifolds, microchannels, and flow optimization.
- Exposure to data center thermal management, server cooling, high-speed connectivity products, or optical networking applications.
- Experience supporting EV, high-power connector, power distribution, or industrial thermal applications.
- Programming or automation experience using Python, MATLAB, or simulation scripting tools.
- Familiarity with thermal optimization, surrogate modeling, digital twins, or AI/ML-based engineering methods.
- Experience working with industry standards such as ASHRAE, JEDEC, or OCP.
