As a Product Design Engineer, you will provide engineering support for PSBU High Power projects, driving new product development, product enhancements, and sustaining engineering activities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions that meet both customer and manufacturing requirements.
Our Team
You will be part of the PSBU Engineering team, working closely with Product Management, Sales, Manufacturing, AQP, Tooling, Reliability, and other cross-functional partners throughout the product development lifecycle. This collaborative team is focused on delivering innovative high-power interconnect solutions while supporting continuous improvement, quality, and customer satisfaction.
What You Will Do
- Provide engineering support for New Product Developments (NPDs), Modifications (MODs), Standard Product Options, and legacy product maintenance and technical support projects.
- Plan and execute assigned projects while ensuring deliverables, timelines, and project objectives are achieved.
- Collaborate with customers, Product Management, and Sales teams to develop VOC-aligned solutions while adhering to the Product Development Process and working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, AQP, Tooling, and Reliability teams.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Lead engineering activities to meet customer expectations and manufacturing requirements.
- Develop and maintain product models, drawings, product specifications, Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R), tolerance stack-up analyses, test summaries, and application specifications.
- Evaluate, define, and manage product and application specifications to support successful product development and commercialisation.
- Prioritise and manage work activities in alignment with organisational objectives while working closely with your supervisor.
- Contribute to the achievement of organisational, departmental, and personal goals.
- Apply Principle Based Management (PBM) principles in daily decision-making and work activities.
- Manage engineering change activities, including Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in product design and development.
- Experience supporting product development projects throughout the product lifecycle.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD design and engineering documentation development.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, project execution, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Proficiency in Product Design & Development with a comprehensive understanding of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) cycle.
- Experience designing products that incorporate moulded, stamped, machined, and plated components.
- Proficiency in NX CAD software for 3D modelling and product design.
- Broad and in-depth technical knowledge in product design engineering.
- Experience with high-power and high-voltage systems. Familiarity with electrical connectors, cable assemblies, and related electronic components is an advantage.
- Knowledge of SAP, including Material Master and Bill of Materials (BOM) management.
- Experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA), including thermal simulations.
- Knowledge of project planning, risk management, and contingency planning.
- Strong analytical skills with experience resolving complex engineering challenges.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across functions.
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies, particularly the Scrum framework.
