Molex Singapore is seeking an Engineer, Automation (Controls) to design, develop, and support machine-level automation and control systems for our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will lead automation projects, implement MES integrations, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to improve machine performance, production efficiency, and data visibility.
Our Team
You will be part of the Datacom and Specialty Solutions Division's automation team, working closely with Process Engineering, Design Process Engineering, technicians, and equipment vendors to drive innovation and operational excellence across our Singapore manufacturing operations.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and implement electrical and control systems for machines and automation cells, including PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and associated wiring and panels.
- Implement and maintain MES integrations at the machine level using Kepware and ignition software, ensure reliable data flow to plant systems and historians.
- Ensure data integrity of production dashboards data.
- Implement machine and vision data collection. Create and maintain the process analysis dashboards.
- Work closely with vendors to ensure that controls-specific standards and requirements are thoroughly understood and implemented in machine designs and installations. Facilitate effective communication to resolve technical issues and drive quality outcomes.
- Lead and coordinate the buy-off processes for machines in collaboration with required vendors, including specialized equipment such as Hipot testers and laser marking systems. Ensure all buy-off activities meet internal process requirements and quality standards. Overseas travel required
- Mentor and support electrical and controls technicians, guiding them to improve their technical skills and workmanship. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning and professional growth.
- Proactively seek, evaluate, and implement new technologies and automation solutions to enhance machine and process efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Collaborate with Design Process Engineering (DPE) and Process Engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve machine-related problems. Provide electrical and controls expertise to support machines in the outsource department and other operational areas as needed.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Diploma or Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming and configuration, including familiarity with various PLC platforms and programming languages(Omron, Beckhoff)
- Experience in OPC software(Kepware, Ignition), SQL DB and python scripting.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on making thoughtful, data-driven decisions to optimize system performance and reliability
- Practical knowledge of electrical panel assembly, wiring, and debugging to ensure robust and compliant control system installation
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues involving multiple devices such as robots, lasers, and vision inspection systems within automated machinery
- Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and continuous personal and professional development to stay current with evolving engineering practices and technologies.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience with MES integration and shop-floor connectivity solutions.
- Knowledge of vision inspection systems, AGVs, industrial robots, and laser systems.
- Experience working with connector or cable manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with machine data analytics and dashboard development.
