Position: Senior MES Engineer
Location: Thang Long I IP, Hanoi (Daily Bus from Hanoi Center)
Who we are
MOLEX, a brand under KOCH Industries with its headquarters in Lisle, Illinois (USA), is one of the world’s leading interconnector manufacturers. Molex creates connections for life by providing technologies that transform the future and improve lives.Since 2007, Molex Vietnam has operated its first factory in Thang Long I IP. We are now expanding with a new high tech facility in Thang Long II IP, Hung Yen, backed by a $145 million investment and spanning 100,000 m². This site will manufacture advanced products including high-speed connectors, cables, and optical devices.
Job Purpose
Molex is seeking a hands-on Senior MES Developer to partner with our Technical Architect and deliver a high-throughput MES microservice platform for by-unit tracking in global manufacturing operations. This role is backend-first (Java/Spring) with targeted Angular contribution, and owns execution in performance engineering, observability, and production stability.
The primary mission of this role is to deliver and harden MES microservices that sustain 2000+ txn/s for by-unit tracking workloads, reduce data and transaction
concurrency pressure on OpsCenter MES, and support ongoing production growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Technical Architect to turn architecture decisions into production services, interfaces, and operational controls.
- Deliver by-unit tracking MES microservices that sustain 2000+ txn/s under production like load.
- Build low-latency, high-concurrency backend services in Java/Spring Boot with clear API contracts and domain boundaries.
- Tune application and database performance across SQL, indexing, execution plans, transaction boundaries, lock contention, and connection pools. - Build persistence and data access strategies for current Progress workloads while keeping schema and query patterns PostgreSQL-ready.
- Implement event-driven integrations with Opcenter and enterprise systems such as SAP, WMS, DataHub, and equipment/IIoT platforms.
- Design resilience patterns for production, including idempotency, retry, circuit breaking, timeout budgets, bulkheads, and graceful degradation.
- Own observability for critical transaction paths, including metrics, traces, structured logs, dashboards, alert thresholds, and runbooks.
- Run load and performance tests with QA and DevOps, analyze bottlenecks, and iterate until throughput and stability targets are met.
- Support selected Angular changes for by-unit workflows and operational visibility where API behavior and UX performance must align.
- Troubleshoot high-severity production issues through deep RCA and deliver preventive actions with measurable impact.
- Strengthen CI/CD quality gates with performance and reliability checks before release promotion.
- Produce concise technical documentation, including architecture implementation notes, NFR baselines, benchmark reports, and operational
runbooks.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of software development experience, including 4+ years in enterprise backend engineering for business critical systems.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java 17+, Spring Boot, REST API design, and modular-monolith or microservice architecture.
- Proven delivery of high-concurrency transactional systems with measurable performance results in production or production-like environments.
- Practical database engineering experience with Progress and PostgreSQL, including SQL optimization, indexing, stored procedures/functions, locking, concurrency control, and transaction consistency.
- Clear understanding of migration and compatibility considerations between Progress and PostgreSQL data models, SQL behavior, and performance characteristics.
- Demonstrated ability to tune performance across application, database, messaging, and integration layers.
- Practical experience with event-driven integration and messaging such as Kafka, including reliability, ordering, idempotency, and back-pressure handling.
- Working knowledge of Angular (TypeScript, component architecture, forms, routing, and state handling) for feature-level contribution.
- Solid understanding of security fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, JWT/API key, secure coding, and API hardening.
- Experience with SDLC processes and engineering collaboration tools such as Jira, GitLab, and structured code review workflows.
- Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills in high-pressure production environments.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to align technical decisions across global teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in manufacturing execution systems, especially Siemens Opcenter/ Camstar-related domains.
- Strong observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and centralized logging or APM platforms.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, API test automation, and performance test tooling.
- Familiarity with CI/CD quality gates, release automation, and progressive deployment strategies.
- Experience designing resilience patterns for high-availability production systems.
- Experience delivering by-unit tracking or serialization and traceability platforms in manufacturing.
Success Profile:
- Delivers MES microservices capable of sustaining 2000+ txn/s for by-unit tracking under an agreed test methodology.
- Demonstrates measurable reduction of Opcenter data and transaction concurrency pressure through workload offloading.
- Improves key runtime metrics such as p95/p99 API latency, DB response time, error rate, consumer lag, and MTTR.
- Establishes observable systems where critical path issues are detected early and diagnosed quickly.
- Delivers stable, scalable solutions while staying aligned with Technical Architect direction and business priorities.
Work Style and Collaboration:
- Acts as the primary execution partner to the Technical Architect, translating architecture into reliable delivery milestones.
- Collaborates closely with SA, QA, DevOps, and manufacturing stakeholders to balance throughput, stability, and release speed.
- Identifies architecture and runtime risks early, then drives prioritized mitigation actions.
- Maintains high standards for engineering quality, operational ownership, and documentation discipline.
