As a Quality Leader – Design at Molex, a Koch company, you will lead engineering quality excellence by driving drawing quality, 3D CAD model quality, engineering documentation compliance, and process governance across global engineering teams. In this role, you will serve as the subject matter expert for engineering drawing standards, GD&T, CAD quality, and engineering process compliance while ensuring all released documentation meets internal standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements.
You will partner closely with design engineering, product development, quality, and manufacturing teams to establish quality frameworks, conduct technical audits, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and deliver engineering process excellence. Your ability to influence stakeholders, mentor teams, and implement robust engineering quality systems will be critical in creating long-term value and supporting innovative product development.

The Engineering Quality & Process Excellence team partners with engineering leaders, product development teams, and quality professionals to establish technical standards, improve engineering processes, and ensure the highest levels of design quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
What You Will Do
Engineering Drawing & CAD Quality Leadership
- Own engineering drawing quality, 3D CAD model quality, and documentation compliance across engineering teams.
- Establish and govern drawing review processes, release criteria, and engineering quality standards.
- Ensure released engineering documentation complies with internal specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Drive consistency and accuracy in engineering deliverables through standardized quality frameworks.
- Act as the technical authority for drawing interpretation, model validation, and design quality assurance.
Quality Audits & Process Governance
- Lead engineering quality audits to assess compliance with documentation, drawing, and modeling standards.
- Define audit methodologies, governance processes, and quality assessment criteria.
- Monitor engineering process adherence and ensure compliance with established procedures.
- Conduct periodic reviews of design outputs and engineering documentation to identify improvement opportunities.
- Develop corrective and preventive actions to address recurring quality concerns.
Standards Compliance & Technical Excellence
- Ensure compliance with ASME standards, GD&T requirements, ISO standards, customer specifications, and internal engineering requirements.
- Provide technical leadership for engineering drawing interpretation and tolerance analysis.
- Drive adoption of best practices related to design quality, manufacturability, and inspection requirements.
- Establish engineering documentation standards that improve product quality and design robustness.
- Support engineering teams in resolving complex design and documentation challenges.
Continuous Improvement & Quality Metrics
- Develop and monitor engineering quality KPIs, scorecards, and performance metrics.
- Lead initiatives to improve first-pass quality, reduce design defects, and increase engineering efficiency.
- Utilize data analysis and reporting tools to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement programs focused on engineering process excellence and operational effectiveness.
- Track and report quality performance to engineering leadership and key stakeholders.
Root Cause Analysis & Risk Management
- Lead root cause investigations related to drawing quality, documentation errors, and engineering process issues.
- Facilitate Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities to eliminate recurring quality problems.
- Assess engineering risks and implement mitigation plans to improve product quality and compliance.
- Support engineering change management activities to ensure quality requirements are maintained.
- Promote proactive quality practices that reduce design and documentation risks.
Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with global engineering teams, design leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive engineering quality initiatives.
- Mentor engineers on GD&T principles, technical drawing requirements, engineering standards, and quality methodologies.
- Influence stakeholders through data-driven insights and effective communication.
- Promote a culture of technical excellence, compliance, accountability, and customer focus.
- Support organizational capability building through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Demonstrated leadership, coaching, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities.Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience collaborating across global engineering teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and data analysis tools.Experience conducting root cause analysis, risk assessments, CAPA, and quality investigations.Strong experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), compliance, and process governance.Experience supporting New Product Development (NPD), Sustaining Engineering, and Engineering Change Management activities.Mandatory experience working with Teamcenter PLM, including engineering change management processes.Hands-on experience with Siemens NX for drawing review, 3D model validation, and design quality assessment.Experience developing and implementing quality processes, auditing systems, and quality improvement programs.Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Inspection principles.Strong understanding of 3D Tolerance Stack Analysis (3DTSA).Expert-level knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).Advanced expertise in engineering drawing interpretation and design specifications.Strong knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Design principles and engineering documentation practices.Minimum 5 years of experience in Engineering Quality, Drawing Quality, Technical Auditing, Design Review, or related quality leadership roles.10+ years of experience in Mechanical Product Design, Engineering Documentation, CAD Modeling, and Drawing Release activities.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.What Will Put You Ahead
