Molex is seeking a Molding Engineer to support New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives through mold sourcing, validation, implementation, and continuous improvement activities. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure new molding solutions meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives while supporting profitable growth. You will also drive optimization efforts for existing molds and molding processes to improve operational performance and manufacturing efficiency.
Our Team
Our team supports manufacturing processes and product development activities across Molex Guadalajara operations. We work closely with global design teams, operations, quality, tooling suppliers, and product development partners to deliver innovative and reliable molding solutions that support successful product launches and ongoing manufacturing excellence.
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with global design teams to review mold designs and ensure manufacturability.
- Lead mold quotation, sourcing, purchasing, and implementation activities for NPI programs.
- Coordinate procurement and commissioning of molding equipment required to support new projects.
- Validate new molds and ensure readiness for production through process qualification activities.
- Establish operational parameters and process windows for new molding applications.
- Partner with APQP and cross-functional teams to define qualification and validation plans.
- Support sample builds, product trials, and process development activities.
- Provide technical feedback to mold design teams to improve future tooling performance.
- Identify and implement improvements to existing molds and molding processes to enhance quality, productivity, and profitability.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Experience supporting injection molding and/or overmolding processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of scientific molding principles and process optimization techniques.
- Experience working with plastic injection molding equipment and related manufacturing systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn, share knowledge, and work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience within the cable and harness manufacturing industry.
- Experience with highly automated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of mold installation, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience using CAD tools such as NX or equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance for injection molding equipment, low-pressure molding systems, laser marking equipment, robots, compressors, and related manufacturing equipment.
- Understanding of networking and automation technologies.
