Manufacturing Process Engineer (MPE)

This state-of-the-art site will produce advanced products, including high-speed connectors, cables, and optical devices
Job Purpose
Develop and improve manufacturing processes for new product introduction (NPI) and mass production, ensuring quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Product & Process Development
- Develop manufacturing processes and set up new production lines for new products.
- Design process flow, workflow, and PFMEA.
- Cooperate with machine/tooling engineers to review and evaluate machine and jig design.
- Lead machine, jig, and tooling trials; set up transfer lines and production processes.
- Define technical requirements and work with suppliers to design machines, jigs, and tools.
- Prepare work instructions, machine setting standards, and process documentation.
- Support mass trial runs and ensure machine readiness for mass production.
- Follow up production feedback after mass production launch.
- Apply ECN to machine and process design when required.
- Research and apply new technologies to production equipment and automation.
2. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Troubleshoot quality and technical issues related to machines, jigs, and tooling during trial, pre-MP, and MP phases.
- Diagnose and analyze equipment and process problems on production lines.
- Support investigation and corrective actions for customer claims related to manufacturing processes.
3. Continuous Improvement
- Work with Production, Quality, and Machine Engineering teams to improve quality, productivity, and equipment performance.
- Drive cost reduction and process optimization initiatives.
- Provide feedback from mass production to improve new product process design and solve chronic issues.
4. Supplier Support
- Support suppliers during machine or process setup, trial runs, and issue resolution.
5. Compliance & System Contribution
- Comply with company policies and procedures related to:
- 5S & Kaizen
- EHS (Environment, Health & Safety)
- EICC & Social Responsibility
- Protection of company assets
- Actively support Molex systems such as TQM, Six Sigma, ISO, and EHS.
6. Other Duties
- Perform other tasks assigned by management to support business objectives.
Qualifications
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree
- Preferred: Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering
Experience
- Required: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Preferred:
- Experience in manufacturing, automation, or machine design
- Background in roles such as Production Engineer, Automation Engineer, or Machine Design Engineer
- Experience in designing jigs, tooling, production lines, automation machines, or robots
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Proficient in CAD tools (NX or equivalent)
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- English communication skills (Japanese is a plus)
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Proactive, detail‑oriented, responsible, and trustworthy
- Willing to learn and share knowledge
- Able to work under pressure and support overtime when required
