The Traffic Specialist is responsible for coordinating domestic and international transportation activities to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of materials, components, finished goods, and customer shipments.
Our Team
This role manages freight execution, carrier coordination, shipment tracking, documentation, export support, and escalation of transportation risks. The position requires strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, compliance discipline, and effective communication with internal teams, carriers, brokers, customers, suppliers, and corporate logistics functions.
What You Will Do
- Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation activities, including domestic, cross-border, import, and export shipments.
- Schedule and track shipments with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers, and customers.
- Ensure timely execution of customer shipments, ASN requirements, and transportation documentation.
- Monitor shipment status and proactively escalate delays, customs issues, capacity constraints, or delivery risks.
- Prepare, validate, and control logistics documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, pedimentos, proof of delivery, and shipping records.
- Support compliance with IMMEX, customs, CTPAT/OEA, customer-specific, and internal logistics requirements.
- Coordinate premium freight requests, approvals, tracking, and cost visibility.
- Maintain communication with Planning, Customer Service, Warehouse, Purchasing, Finance, and Operations to align shipment priorities.
- Support freight cost control, carrier performance tracking, and transportation KPI reporting.
- Investigate transportation discrepancies, damaged shipments, delivery failures, or documentation errors.
- Maintain accurate shipment records in ERP, TMS, customer portals, and internal tracking files.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to transit time, freight cost, delivery reliability, and process standardization.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in traffic, logistics, transportation, import/export, or customs operations.
- Experience coordinating carriers, brokers, forwarders, and cross-border shipments.
- Knowledge of import/export documentation and transportation processes.
- ERP experience required; SAP experience preferred.
- Strong Excel skills.
- English proficiency required.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in automotive, electronics, manufacturing, or maquiladora operations.
- Familiarity with CTPAT, OEA, IMMEX, USMCA/T-MEC, and customs compliance.
- Experience with customer portals, EDI/ASN processes, and premium freight tracking.
- Knowledge of TMS platforms or freight management systems.
- Proficient in SAP.
