Sourcing Engineer (Indirect) / ソーシングエンジニア (間接材)
Our Team
Indirect Sourcing sources indirect materials (e.g., MRO, machinery, outside services, facilities) with required quality, at a competitive price and in an acceptable time frame. To achieve all these aims, you would be expected to plan and implement periodic cost reduction program & improve supplier performance in line with a set of KPI and in collaboration with internal Production, Engineering and other functions as well as external suppliers. This role contributes to business by assuring supply of goods and services that the company needs to achieve its commercial, financial and social goals.
What You Will Do
Supplier selection & approval:
・Lead identification, evaluation and the approval process of new suppliers that meet Molex performance standards and compliance requirements, preferably in Japan. Drive cross functional teams including but not limited to Quality, Operations and Engineering in this undertaking.
・Leverage current supply base or identify new suppliers to support new product introduction (NPI).
・Support executing and implementing Global / Regional Contracts and creating decision making framework (DFM) for Make vs Buy or Supplier Selection decisions.
Pricing & Cost:
・Work with Engineering, Operations, Category Managers, Sourcing functions and Logistics to develop target cost and lower cost alternatives. Assess all relevant cost elements and conduct price benchmarking and VAVE.
・Negotiate agreements with suppliers that address the global needs of the Division including but not limited to price, delivery, quality and service requirements. Justify the agreements to all functional budget holders on a basis of benchmarking and should-costing.
・Fully utilize eProcurement tools, such as online RfQ, E-Auctions, Catalogues, etc.
Supply Base Development & Management:
・Establish long-term, competitive supplier relationships with high performance standards.
・Lead supplier reviews with Engineering, Quality and Operations to develop a preferred supply base and drive supplier consolidation.
・Drive the efforts to move business away from suppliers that are not preferred. Work with all stakeholders to understand the right number of suppliers required. Minimize the amount of business with smaller-spend suppliers or where the Molex spend is insignificant. Minimize risk and secure supply.
Compliance:
・Always ensure Molex procurement and requesters operate as per regulatory and legal requirements. This includes but is not limited to compliance with safety, environmental, tax, customs and ethical requirements and guidelines.
・Gain suppliers’ understanding and acceptance of the Molex Code of Conduct, Molex Terms and Conditions and any other requirements.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
・More than 3-year procurement, sales or engineering experiences in electronic component industry
・More than 1-year leadership experience of teams or cross-functional projects
・Good command of, and/or adaptability to, Office 365, Coupa and other IT applications
・Business level communication skills in Japanese
・Understanding packaging material drawings and specifications
・Ability to lead and/or actively participate in cross-functional teams
・Strong problem solving & analytical skills
・Understanding & analysis of Total Cost of Ownership

・CPM/CPSM, CIRM, CPIM
・Business level communication skills in English or Chinese
