Your Job
The Materials Planner is responsible for executing material planning and supply chain activities to ensure uninterrupted production and optimal inventory levels based on dynamic market environment. This role collaborates cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers to maintain supply-demand balance, mitigate risks, and drive operational efficiency across the product lifecycle and meet customer expectations.
What You Will Do
Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute material planning strategies to support production continuity and inventory optimization.
- Manage inbound raw material schedules to ensure timely delivery aligned with manufacturing requirements.
- Execute demand, supply, and inventory planning activities using enterprise planning systems.
- Support product lifecycle planning, including New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering Change Orders (ECO), sustaining operations, and end-of-life transitions.
Inventory Management & Analysis
- Analyze inventory trends, material coverage, and demand variability to minimize excess and shortages.
- Perform part shortage analysis and root cause investigations to support data-driven decisions.
- Generate material requirement plans, forecasts, and supplier schedules based on changing demand signals.
Risk Management & Problem Solving
- Identify supply risks, bottlenecks, and material constraints; escalate issues with actionable insights and mitigation plans.
- Propose risk-buy decisions, including cost analysis, business justification, and execution planning.
- Proactively resolve material shortages to minimize production disruptions and downtime.
Supplier & Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end order management, including purchase orders, delivery tracking, and supplier follow-ups.
- Collaborate with suppliers and co-manufacturers to align delivery schedules with production priorities.
- Participate in supplier and co-manufacturer reviews to ensure fulfillment of material commitments.
- Facilitate and escalate 2nd sourcing to maintain supply chain continuity
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product, Business Units, Operations, Logistics, Sourcing, and Regional Planning teams to resolve supply chain issues.
- Act as a key point of contact for material readiness, clearly communicating risks, status, and recovery plans.
- Support supplier sourcing, assessment, and qualification activities in partnership with the Engineering/ Sourcing Team.
Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure adherence to standard planning processes and maintain high data quality within planning systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to supply chain tools, processes, and supplier performance.
- Develop planning expertise and strengthen decision-making capabilities by understanding downstream and upstream operational impacts.
