As the Malaysia Regional Category Management (RCM) Lead, you will play a critical role within the Consumer & Commercial Solutions (CCS) Sourcing team, leading both strategic and tactical sourcing activities across Malaysia operations. You will manage supplier relationships, category strategies, operational procurement activities, and cost optimisation initiatives while partnering closely with manufacturing operations, global category management teams, NPD sourcing, and suppliers to ensure supply continuity, value creation, and long-term business success.
Our Team
You will be part of the CCS Sourcing organization and work closely with cross-functional stakeholders across R&D, Product Management, Engineering, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Finance, and Legal teams. In addition, you will collaborate extensively with Global Category Management, Supplier Quality, NPD Sourcing teams, and strategic suppliers to drive sourcing excellence and support Malaysia manufacturing operations.
What You Will Do
- Serve as the primary point of contact in Malaysia for outsourcing and raw material sourcing matters, managing supplier-related topics and escalations.
- Analyze spend profiles, conduct RFQs, and lead supplier price negotiations to drive productivity and continuous cost improvements.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of cost-saving opportunities through direct negotiations, resourcing initiatives, and VA/VE projects, with the goal of meeting or exceeding annual savings targets.
- Manage the supplier base supporting mass production and respond with urgency to supply-related escalations from manufacturing operations to ensure continuity of supply.
- Develop strong supplier relationships that create mutual value while establishing and maintaining supplier contracts and commercial agreements.
- Support Global Category Management business relationship management initiatives with strategic suppliers and key business partners.
- Develop and manage a dynamic supplier network for outsourcing and raw material categories that supports business growth, technology requirements, and operational expectations for cost, quality, delivery, and service.
- Collaborate closely with Global Category Managers across metals, plastics, electronics, outsourcing, and other direct material categories.
- Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, Finance, Legal, and regional sourcing teams to align sourcing strategies and business objectives.
- Build strong partnerships with external suppliers while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Lead team development initiatives by applying Principle Based Management (PBM), developing key talent, and establishing robust succession plans for critical roles.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic suppliers to strengthen collaboration and long-term partnerships.
- Support manufacturing footprint transformation initiatives, including balancing production between internal manufacturing and outsourced partners.
- Act as a trusted business partner to plant and business unit leadership by providing expertise in supplier management, market intelligence, and cost analysis.
- Promote PBM culture and strengthen the Molex brand through ethical business practices and long-term value creation.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in Procurement, Engineering, and/or Project Management.
- Experience managing supplier contracts and supporting Malaysia manufacturing operations.
- Experience leading cross-functional Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives.
- End-to-end experience in global manufacturing environments.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with deep knowledge of procurement and sourcing processes.
- Proven ability to drive collaboration across functions, business units, and global locations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Master's Degree, MBA, or other advanced technical or business qualification.
- 10+ years of experience within the Connector, Automotive, or EMS industries.
- Previous experience in Engineering, Project Management, and/or Business Management roles.
- Extensive procurement expertise supporting mechanical components and raw materials within the connector industry, including stamping, plating, molding, auto-assembly, resins, and metals.
- Strong supplier network with executive-level relationships that enable rapid identification and onboarding of external capabilities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost structures related to stamping, plating, molding, assembly, resins, and metals.
- Experience working with SAP ERP systems
