Georgia-Pacific’s Gypsum division is seeking to add a well-qualified Remote Automation Engineer to work on our team to support and optimize high value automation initiatives across the Gypsum division. This role will not only support transforming our business, but also build relationships with site personnel to adopt and develop new technologies.

What You Will Do
- Train site personnel on the proper method and process for performing preventive or corrective maintenance on automation systems and components, monitor automation health at assigned sites via diagnostics and analysis, and coordinate with site representatives to address any changes to automation system health.
- Provide technical expertise in process automation and transfer that knowledge to others (operations and maintenance).
- Visit different sites and work with the cross functional teams to define automation opportunities and monitor/validate system installations and performance against bets.
- Develop and modify PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), Robots, HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and computer vision programs to achieve project requirements.
- Create and maintain documentation related to automation systems, including specifications, manuals, and standard operating procedures.
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) site visits per month or as required by business needs.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Two (2) or more years of hands-on engineering experience within a manufacturing operation or commensurate industry experience.
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and facility resources in Automation and Digital Process Optimization, Electrical and Process Controls Capabilities, Maintenance and Operations, and various other capabilities.
- Strong organization skills, problem solving, sense of urgency, customer focus, and team building.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize many different opportunities as they come up.
- Able to read assembly drawings, schematics, and equipment layouts.
- Basic understanding of automation components (PLCs, PLC Programming, motor drives, etc.
)and how they work together for system automation. - Experience using Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Autodesk.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Five (5) or more years of hands-on engineering and process experience within a gypsum facility.
- Hands on Robotic Cell commissioning/maintaining (Yaskawa, Fanuc).
- Hands on experience with vision system software/hardware (Cognex Insight, Keyence Vision Editor).
- Deep Learning Computer Vision experience.
- Experience in windows application programming in C++/C#, Python, etc.
- Experience in Automation or Process Control (PLC programming, AC & DC motor control experience, including drives, Process Control Networking, HMI/SCADA Maintenance and Design).
- Ability to troubleshoot, configure, and repair all types of PLCs (Allen Bradley), HMIs (Ignition, and/or Perspective), and install process instruments.
